My name is Adonis Ravelli (if you don’t know by now you really need to start paying attention) and I am an aspiring author. I come from the Netherlands, where I have lived all of my 27 years. I’ve been enamored with stories from an early age, starting with movies. My father brought me and my brother along to the movie rental store every Friday afternoon to go and pick out a movie. He did not shy away from showing my every genre, from action classics like the Matrix, but also scarier things like Pan’s Labyrinth. Safe to say that I preferred the action genre. Comedy was also something that stuck around quite a bit. However, movies took more of a back-seat in my mid-teens. That is when my interests transitioned from moving pictures to just the picture.
“I have figured out the true source behind all those movies and series!” I so proudly proclaimed. Let’s just say, that I was pleasantly surprised when I found out about the true source material of manuscripts and novels a few years later. Yet, with each story that I discovered I entered a rabbit hole of recommendations and similar stories. Especially in the Fantasy genre, where it felt truly limitless to what the next page could contain. Going back to the late-teen years, I had started to dabble in writings and drawings of my own. After years of consuming movies, anime, manga, comics, and more recently—books; I wanted to create something myself.
Alas, life doesn’t always go according to desires. I diligently did what was expected of me and finished my bachelor’s in IT before working full-time. However, that desire to create never faded. I wrote short stories, scripts for movies that would never be filmed, entire worlds, only to watch them catch dust in a .docx file that would remain unfinished. The idea a background in storytelling or a degree in writing was required for a published author was clearly stuck in my mind.
The feeling became stronger with every story I created. I caught myself daydreaming about conversations that only took place in my fictional world. So, I decided to prepare. Why not give it a try? I found myself in a uniquely privileged position, where I was able to save up enough to give writing a novel my full attention. One year, that’s what I’ll give myself to actually give this a shot.
So that’s exactly what I did. To my manager’s surprise, I quit my job. This was April 2025. Now after a year of hard work I am finally able to share the result with the world and see what they think of it.
